BETHESDA, Md., Sep 18, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Washington Gas Energy Services, Inc. (WGES), a leading competitive supplier of electricity and natural gas to mid-Atlantic businesses and residential customers, today announced that it has been selected to provide electricity to The Doubletree Hotel and Executive Meeting Center in Bethesda. The Doubletree has joined a growing list of businesses dedicated to a cleaner environment. WGES will supply 100% wind energy credits to power the hotel's needs over the next three years.
Doubletree's impact on the environment over three years will be significant. The hotel's purchase is equivalent to removing 1,650 cars from the road and eliminating over 9,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide from the air - the same amount produced by consuming 20,000 barrels of oil.
